Sustainable/Eco Friendly Agriculture

What is Sustainable/Eco Friendly Agriculture?

Sustainable/Eco Friendly Agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles, and soil biological activity.

It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain, or enhance ecological harmony. The primary goal of organic agriculture is to optimize the health and productivity of interdependent communities of soil life, plants, animals and people.

Sustainable agriculture refers to the ability of a farm to produce fertile soil for crops and produce along with livestock and fish from managed ponds, without causing severe or irreversible damage to ecosystem health.

Two key issues are biophysical (the long-term effects of various practices on soil properties and processes essential for crop productivity) and socio-economic (the long-term ability of farmers to obtain inputs and manage resources such as labor).
