Severe Multiply Impaired

The classrooms for students with Severe Multiple Impairments (SXI) provide a full range of academic experiences, including language, science, math, and social studies. Communication and interaction skills are encouraged using verbal cues, signing, and alternate communication devices, including pictures, iPads, and electronic "talking" switches. The classroom teacher and staff help the students overcome multiple obstacles by using the M.O.V.E. (Mobility Opportunity via Education/Experiences) curriculum. To complete a well-rounded school experience, students also practice community, social, self-care, and adult-living skills. All accomplishments are celebrated.
