Programs Information
Discover the world of mechanical repair. Students attending the Diesel Technology Program will learn engine rebuild, welding, electrical, and preventive maintenance.
Students receive hands-on training working in the lab area on many projects including: engine rebuilding and machining, tractor and motorcycle restoration, equipment repair and Dyno Testing.

Students attending the Diesel Technology Program have the opportunity to receive several highly recognized certifications. The National test in Outdoor Power Equipment is offered to students as well as the following:

State of Michigan Certification is offered to students at the Tuscola Technology Center. Students attending the Diesel Technology Program will have the opportunity to take the state certified tests in: manual transmission & drive axles, engines, light to heavy duty truck, and motorcycle repair. |

|
Auto Service Excellence Certification is offered to students at the Tuscola Technology Center. Students attending the Diesel Technology program will have the opportunity to take the National ASE tests in Gas & Diesel and Engines & Transmissions. |

|
ALLDATA Software is offered to all students. ALLDATA is an electronic automotive information system with state of the are service information. |

Student Organizations & Competitions
Students have the opportunity to become members in Skills/USA, which allows students to demonstrate their occupational and leadership skills. Students have the opportunity to attend and compete at three levels: regional, state, and national.
Students will also have the opportunity to attend MITES (Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society), which encourages and recognizes fine craftsmanship in the field of industry, technology, and career and technical education in the state of Michigan. Students have the opportunity to attend and compete at two levels: regional and state.

| Career Pathways

This highly technical and specialized program will train you for many new job opportunities. Upon completion of the Diesel Technology Program you many choose entry-level positions in engine repair, power transmission, hydraulics, charging/starting systems, welding fabrication, parts or sales.
For more advanced careers in Diesel Technology, students may continue training at a college or a trade/technical school.

College Credit and Articulation
One of the ways the Tuscola Technology Center is able to help students make the successful transition from high school to college is by offering articulated college credit. The technical skills and knowledge a student learns can save tuition fees, shorten the time a student spends in college and reduces the duplication of courses at the college level. To receive articulated credit a student needs good grades, good attendance and be able to demonstrate that they have the maturity to bypass the college level courses.
Students have the opportunity to earn college credit with several Michigan Colleges. Colleges participating in the articulation include: Ferris State University, Delta College, and Northwestern University (Ohio).

Work Placement Opportunities
Work experience and internships in area businesses are a highlight of this program. Second year students are given an opportunity to complete co-op experiences. Students have the opportunity to have co-op experiences with such businesses as: Bader Bros., Cisco (Forklifts), Bay Honda, Double D Deisel, Michigan CAT, Farm Depot, Tri-County, and AIS Construction Equip.

Advisory Committees
The Tuscola Technology Center is fortunate to have community and business leaders involved in the success of our students.
The committee members are professionals in business and industry as well as counselors and teachers from Tuscola County. Their input is vital in assuring that our students receive industry standard instruction in their field of study.
