Special Class Features & Certifications
Students will have the opportunity to become certified in CPR and First Aid for adults, children, and infants.

Student Organizations & Competitions
Students in this program will be encouraged to participate in SkillsUSA. This is a state and national competition to evaluate a student's preparation for employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the fields of criminal justice and/or public security.

|
Students interested in the human service type professions, such as law enforcement, should like working with people, information, and things. They should be able to work under stressful situations, enjoy variety in their work, and be physically, emotionally, and mentally active.
Following the completion of this program students will be ready to enter and succeed in a college criminal justice program.

College Credit and Articulation
One of the ways the Tuscola Technology Center is able to help students make the successful transition from high school to college is by offering articulated college credit. The technical skills and knowledge a student learns can save tuition fees, shorten the time a student spends in college, and reduce the duplication of courses at the college level. To receive articulated credit a student needs good grades, good attendance, and must be able to demonstrate that they have the maturity to bypass the college level courses.
There are possible college credits available at Davenport University, Delta College and Ferris State University for the successful completion of this program.

Job Shadow Opportunities
A mentorship opportunity will be available during the second semester, based on criteria from the first semester. The mentorship will be for approximately four weeks and is supported by fourteen different law enforcement agencies, sixteen different fire departments, and six different ambulance/EMS agencies.
In addition to job shadowing we will have several guest speakers, training videos, field trips, mock situations, demonstrations, and hands-on-training in the following areas:
* Fingerprinting and Crime Scene Processing
* Defense Tactics and Control Techniques
* Arrest Procedures
* Forensics
* Criminal Investigation
* Traffic Accidents
* Patrol Techniques
* AED Training
* CPR & First Aid Certified

Advisory Committees
The Tuscola Technology Center is fortunate to have community and business leaders involved in the success of our students.
The committee members are professionals in business and industry as well as counselors and teachers from Tuscola County. Their input is vital in assuring that our students receive industry standard instruction in their field of study.

We as a class would like to thank each and every police department for your donation of a patch to add to our current collection which we have proudly displayed on the wall of the Law Enforcement classroom.
We also want to thank all the donors who have pledged money to the students in our Patch-O-Thon. Below you will see the amount of money that has already been donated and we will try to update daily to keep you posted on our progress.
